This old sign was donated to my archive on 20 May 2013. This Used to be on the wall of building in South Union Street Cupar next door to the Regal Cinema. The building was wooden construction & when being demolished sign was removed. Researching information on Mr James Anderson Welch he was a auctioneer in Bonnygate from 1860 – 1904. In his youth he went to sea he had even been shipwrecked 3 times. His father Andrew Welch auctioneer died in 1860 & James succeeded to his business by 1866 had removed to 132 Bonnygate which was his place of business until his death April 29 1904. After James death the business was continued by Charles Welch until his death in 1939 then by his son James Welch.
